Knowing more about Chico Xavier

Francisco Cândido Xavier was born in the city of Pedro Leopoldo, MG on April 2nd, 1910. Cultured and with great dedication to philanthropy, Chico became years later, one of the most renowned writers of books on psychographies. To know more about the life of the master and his work, continue reading the article and understand his spirituality.

Origin and childhood

Chico Xavier was born into a modest and humble family. He had eight siblings. His father, José Cândido Xavier, was a lottery ticket salesman. His mother, Maria João de Deus, was a washerwoman and highly Catholic. There are indications, according to biographers, that Chico's mediumship manifested when he was four years old.

After the death of his mother, his father, unable to raise the children, gave them to relatives. Chico went to live with his godmother, Rita de Cássia. However, he suffered abuse and violence from his wife, who forced him to dress as a girl and beat him daily with a quince stick.

Day after day, he lived in a climate of total terror and the only moments of peace were, according to researchers, when the boy, aged five, communicated with his mother.

Contact with the Spiritist Doctrine

His first contact with spiritism happened in 1927, when Chico Xavier was 17 years old. One of his sisters had a supposed crisis of insanity, a possible spiritual obsession. With his mediumship already developed, Chico incorporated several deceased poets, who were only identified in 1931. However, still in 1928, Chico had his first psychographies published in smallnewspapers in Rio de Janeiro and Portugal.

Works

In 1931, still in the city of Pedro Leopoldo, Chico Xavier gave continuity to what was his first work, "Parnaso de Além Túmulo", an anthology of poetry. On his 18th birthday, he met Emmanuel, who would become, according to the medium, his spiritual guide who guided him in all his psychographies.

As a mission assigned by his mentor, Chico Xavier would have the mission to psychograph 30 books. For that, Emmanuel oriented him, as a condition for the work, to have only one focus: discipline. In 1932, his book of poetry was released with great repercussion in the Brazilian press and bringing a lot of movement in the public opinion.

Remarkably, "Parnaso de Além Túmulo" was dictated to Chico by spirits of Brazilian and Portuguese poets, which caused great impact among members of literature. One of the greatest impressions of the public was to recognize the talent of the young man who had barely completed primary school.

Forecast

Among his many predictions, one of them draws attention even today. Chico described that if a 3rd World War did not occur, man would reach the moon, as occurred in 1969. During the space trip, the world, traumatized by the possibility of new conflicts, did not face battles.

Chico also stated that, from the moment a human being arrived at the celestial body, the world would, years later, go through a new era of discoveries of scientific factors.

Exercise of charity

Consolidated as one of the country's greatest spiritual mediums, Chico Xavier had already founded about 2,000 philanthropic entities by 1980. The non-profit institutions are supported by donations, campaigns and royalties from sales of his books.

Chico refused any financial help. He lived off a simple pension and any amount that was given to him, he would give to people in need of help. Throughout his life, and even when he was already suffering from health problems, he never failed to visit hospitals, prisons, orphanages or asylums. Wherever he went, Chico left his message of peace and solidarityto anyone who needed it.

Death

Chico Xavier died at the age of 92, of cardio respiratory arrest, in the city of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, on June 30, 2002. The spiritist affirmed that, when he passed away, it would be at a time when the country would be celebrating, with the nation happy and in a good mood, so that there would be no sadness for his passing.

About 120,000 people attended the two-day wake, with another 30,000 following the procession on foot to the city's cemetery. The medium's grave is one of the most visited in the city.

Spiritism

Spiritism is a doctrine based on the evolution of the human being through the process of reincarnation. Also known as Kardecism or Kardecist Spiritism, the religion began in France in the nineteenth century. One of its great mentors was Hippolyté Léon Denizard Rivail, or simply Allan Kardec (1804-1869). Going forward, see more details about the doctrine and understand the evolutionspiritual.

What is the Spiritist Doctrine?

The spiritist doctrine consists of the analysis and specific studies about the evolution of the human spirit. Through theses and data, it seeks the understanding of the progress of man's evolution through the stages of reincarnation.

It is based on the behavior of followed lives, in which man is subjected to life conditions and that from his experience, he can manifest achievements in which there are results of constant human learning. To this, it is believed in the greatness that man's wisdom is directed to his faith and belief in religious aspects that value his existence.

Source

Spiritism had its beginnings in France in the 19th century. Developed by Allan Kardec, it had as its principles the belief in spiritual evolution. The basic principles of the doctrine are charity and reincarnation. Jesus Christ is seen with the first great superior spirit, whose mission is to guide humanity to perfection and spiritual belief.

For this science, all Brazilians are endowed with mediumship. The communication channels between the material world (Earth) and the spiritual field are permanent and constant.

Dogmas

For Allan Kardec, the principles of spiritism consist of elements that justify its existence and practice. So much so that Kardec codified dogmas so that there would be more understanding in the spiritist doctrine. The related dogmas are that of reason, existence of God, reincarnation and communication between the dead.

The Law of Reincarnation is the most cited and coherent one, because it is based on the main characteristic of spiritism. Recognized in its thesis that is directly linked to the principle of human evolution, the dogma requires the understanding that there is life after death.

Spiritist Doctrine in Brazil and the world

Spiritism is practiced and represented in more than 36 countries, and is most widespread in Brazil. There are more than 4 million adherents in the country and more than 30 million sympathizers, according to sources from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB).

And yet, spiritists are known for taking philanthropic assistance. Kardecism had strong influences by other movements, such as Umbanda and other religious currents.

Indications

Your indication is unique. To forgive. To know how to recognize the mistake of other similar ones and establish peace of mind between both. After all, who has never made a mistake or committed serious faults before themselves and God? So, if the mistake is recognized and you understand this human condition, do not stop forgiving and take your belief. Recognize your mistake or other similar ones, and establish the bond of brotherly love.

Meaning

The meaning of forgiveness is peace, lightness and transformation. After forgiving, the weight is lifted from the back and union returns to the main movement of life. To live, to do right or wrong, are characteristics plausible to all humans. No one is free to make mistakes. But many want to get rid of the simple habit of forgiving. Forgiveness is liberating. Practice forgiveness and be inspired by the following prayer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus!

Teach us to forgive, as you have forgiven us and forgive us, at every step of life.

It helps us to understand that forgiveness is the power capable of extinguishing evil.

It induces us to recognise in our brothers that darkness inflicts children of God as much as we do, and that it is our duty to interpret them as sick, in need of assistance and love.

Lord Jesus, whenever we feel that we are victims of someone else's attitudes, make us understand that we too are susceptible to mistakes and that, for this very reason, the faults of others could be ours.

Lord, we know what forgiveness of trespasses is, but have mercy on us and teach us to practice it.

So be it!
