What is Vedic Astrology
Vedic or Indian Astrology is a way of interpreting the sky at the exact moment of a person's birth. This chart shows what are their main characteristics, qualities and challenges for the present life, based on the positive and negative acts of their past lives, i.e. their karma.
According to Hindu astrology, it is not only the influence of the stars at the time of birth that is important, but also your actions in previous lives and your accumulated karma. These will direct the course and possibilities of your present life.

Vedic Astrology and its origin
Vedic Astrology originated in India, approximately 6,000 years ago. It comes from the sacred texts used to guide the civil and religious customs of the Hindu civilization, known as Vedas. Read on to find out more about the history, principles and how predictions are made in Vedic Astrology.
History of Vedic Astrology
The term "Vedic Astrology" became popular in the mid-1980's when Ayurvedic medicine and the teachings of Yoga became more widely discussed in the Western world. The original term and how it is known in India is Jyotisha, which in Sanskrit means "the light of knowledge".
This is explained by the fact that Vedic astrology is based on the stars and stars and how they influence the lives of all human beings. The term "Vedic" refers to the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of Hinduism, which, for Indians, are the equivalent of the Bible for Westerners.
The Vedas or Vedangas are divided into 6 major disciplines that tell the story of Hindu belief, they are: Shiksha, Chandas, Vyakarana, Nirukta, Kalpa and Jyotisha. The last one, Jyotisha, is the oldest of them, approximately 6 thousand years old.
It was created to function as a calendar, which was used to guide the performances of the various rituals of civilization.
Principles of Vedic Astrology
Vedic or Indian Astrology works with three types of charts, they are: Natal, Lunar and Solar. Each one has its own rules and workings. The Natal Chart needs the time of birth to be conceived and focuses on showing predictions about love, profession, family, diseases and karma.
The Moon Chart can be generated without the time of birth and focuses on issues such as health, family, luck and past lives. Very similar to the previous one, the Solar Chart gives interpretations about profession, family, health, luck and karma.
How are Vedic Astrology predictions based on
Indian Astrology has as basis of creation and analysis of the map the knowledge of 4 poles: the planets (Grahas), the constellations (Nakshatras), the 12 signs (Rashis) and the 12 houses (Bhavas).
In other words, Vedic astrology is based on the position of the stars at the time of a person's birth. This is put into perspective through the houses and signs that are in evidence at that time.
All of this influences the personality, life path and mission of the individual, as each sign invokes a different lesson that needs to be learned in the current life.
Difference between Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology
There are several systems of astrology around the world, which sometimes raises the following question: What is the difference between one and another?
The main distinction lies in the method used to understand what influences people in the sky. Western astrology interprets the position of the 12 stars, i.e. the planets in relation to the Earth, which is always in motion. This can sometimes cause confusion.
This is the tropical system and it is synchronized to the seasons of the year, so that the initial date of Aries coincides, in the northern hemisphere, with the beginning of spring, the beginning of a new year or the cycle of nature. Therefore, the dates of the signs do not coincide exactly, so there may be a change of sign among the twelve houses.
Vedic Astrology uses the sidereal system which is based on the position of stars. It is important to note that there are not all 12 as in the Western case, but only 7 of them, which take turns among the twelve houses, being: Mars, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, the Sun and the Moon.
Moreover, Indian Astrology addresses not only the present life paths, but also takes into account aspects of past lives and the karma of each person.
Vedic Astrology Signs
The study of astrology in each region of the planet has its own particularities. Vedic astrology, for example, has beginning and ending dates that differ from the dates used in Western astrology, despite both have 12 signs.

How to discover karma through Vedic Astrology?
According to one of the major scriptures of Vedic Astrology, the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the planets were created to distribute to humans the results of their actions. For many scholars, their operation acts as cogs in the Law of Karma.
The positioning of the planets at the time you were born shows behavioural tendencies, qualities and defects which are the results of past life actions.
Thus, one of the main differences between Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology is that Indian Astrology takes into consideration your past lives and their results and influences on your present life.
In this way, your karma can be seen through the strengths and weaknesses of your sign, because there is what you need to work on and improve in order to evolve as a spirit. Therefore, try, through the aspects of your Vedic Rashi, to understand those factors that need certain adjustments.
